Thesis conditions

Thesis supervisors and co-supervisors are professors, research directors, senior lecturers and research masters, or other individuals qualified to supervise research (HDR).

The subject of the thesis must be in the area of expertise (research and publications) of the thesis supervisor and co-supervisor.

Thesis conditions comply with the provisions of article 11 of the EDP’s internal regulations:

“Candidates who hold a degree other than a Master’s, or whose degree was obtained more than 5 years ago, must validate the complementary UE organized by their home UMRI.”

The duration of the thesis is three years. An additional year may be granted as an exception by ENSEA’s General Manager, on the basis of a reasoned request from the candidate and his/her thesis supervisor, after consultation with the UMRI Director and agreement with the EDP.

Beyond the3rd year, applications for derogatory re-registration will be subject to graduated requirements.

Any thesis director may inform the Doctoral School of his or her opposition to the doctoral student’s re-registration if he or she does not meet the normal requirements of a doctoral research project in terms of scientific level or work progress. The thesis director’s reasoned opinion is equivalent to suspension of the doctoral student’s registration. In the event of dispute, the Doctoral School Director will make a decision after hearing both parties.
