Doctoral training
General
As part of the implementation of the Centre d’Excellence Africain (CEA) project, ENSEA has opened, since the 2018-2019 academic year, a doctoral training program, within the Unité Mixte de Recherche et d’Innovation (UMRI) Statistique et Economie Appliquée (UMRI-SEA). UMRI-SEA is a laboratory of the Ecole Doctorale Polytechnique (EDP). UMRI-SEA’s policy is defined by the deliberations of ENSEA’s Scientific Council. The aim of doctoral training at UMRI-SEA is to train graduates capable of carrying out high-quality research in the academic, private or public sectors. The doctoral program focuses on the following areas of research:
- Quantitative economics ;
- Statistical methodology ;
- Statistics and social sciences
- Statistics and public health
Duration of thesis
The duration of the thesis is three years. An additional year may be granted by the Director of ENSEA, on the basis of a reasoned request from the candidate and his/her thesis supervisor, after consulting the Director of UMRI and obtaining the agreement of the EDP. During their studies, doctoral students take part in courses (teaching, specialty seminars, cross-disciplinary seminars and professional integration seminars) and research internships organized by UMRI-SEA managers. These doctoral training courses are credited and must be validated by the doctoral students.
Selection procedure
Selection takes place in two phases. The first phase is an analysis of the applications, on the basis of which a shortlist of candidates will be drawn up. The second phase consists of an oral interview with the candidates shortlisted at the end of the first phase. A telephone interview (via Skype or any other means of communication) is organized for candidates residing outside Côte d’Ivoire. Candidates accepted by the recruitment committee at the end of the second selection phase are authorized to enroll in the doctoral program.
