African Center of Excellence for Statistical Training

The role of the Steering Committee (SC) is to:

• develop the overall strategy for the Center of Excellence, taking into account the recommendations of the Scientific Advisory Board;
• decide on the Center’s action program on the basis of the Technical Committee’s proposal, validated by the landlord;
• allocate the Centre’s annual budget, taking into account the recommendations of the Technical Committee;
• ensure the smooth running and coordination of activities carried out by the establishments making up the Centre ;
• organize the evaluation of the Center’s activities;
• decide on any other issues relating to the operation of the center.

The PC is responsible for all project activities. It is responsible for actions such as validating modifications to partnership agreements, changing strategies, scheduling project activities, and monitoring and evaluating project performance. The Steering Committee comprises 8 members (see Table 4), 3 of whom are appointed intuitu personae. Other members include the Director of the Groupe des Écoles Nationales d’Économie et Statistique (GENES1) and the Directors of the partner institutions. The Steering Committee will be chaired by Mr Pali Lehola. The Director of ENSEA will act as secretary. The Steering Committee will meet statutorily twice (2) a year. The Chairman of the Steering Committee may convene extraordinary meetings. Such meetings may be held in person, by teleconference or by videoconference, in order to minimize costs.
